{"id":208,"date":"2022-06-16T17:29:14","date_gmt":"2022-06-16T21:29:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/parasports.thedev.ca\/?p=208"},"modified":"2022-06-28T12:28:43","modified_gmt":"2022-06-28T16:28:43","slug":"excited-to-be-hosting-the-durham-region-2019-ontario-parasport-games","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/parasports.thedev.ca\/en\/excited-to-be-hosting-the-durham-region-2019-ontario-parasport-games\/","title":{"rendered":"Durham Region Hosting 2023 Ontario Parasport Games"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We\u2019re excited to be hosting the <strong>2023 Ontario Parasport Games in Durham Region<\/strong>, building on the success and legacy of hosting these Games in 2019, and continuing growth of our inclusive, accessible, and adaptive sport opportunities.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-743\" src=\"https:\/\/parasports.thedev.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Para-Games-McGill-9120-e1656432938399-600x400.jpg\" alt=\"Pachi\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/>The 2023 Durham Region Ontario Parasport Games will attract about 550 participants and result in an anticipated local economic impact of between $500,000 and $1 million. There will be 11 sport competitions at eight venues, along with an opening ceremony to kick off a memorable weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Sport Durham, the Region of Durham\u2019s sport tourism program, will work closely with the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries and community volunteers forming the Games Organizing Committee. This team will deliver another successful and memorable event for visiting participants, as well as community partners and volunteers.<\/p>\n<p>Durham Region hosted the Ontario Parasport Games in 2019\u2014garnering around $678,000 in local economic impact; and a legacy fund of $112,000 that is being used to increase adaptive sport opportunities and participation in Durham.
